Caring for a child with a disability sometimes creates a budget that's impossible to plan for, let us help you. 

Amount Awarded: up to $250
Deadline: May 9, 2020

  • To qualify, the child must be 18 years old or younger and diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Behavioral Disorder or Sensory Processing Disorder and reside in the United States of America (Residents residing in the area served by Coloring Life My Way will be given first consideration)

  • The parent(s) or legal guardian must submit an application along with requested documents 

  • The parent must submit at least one letter of recommendation. The letter should be from teachers, employers, friends or community leaders. They should attest to the child's character, ability and need for financial assistance for treatment/services, equipment/supplies, assistive technology, or programs (not covered by insurance), etc.

  • If awarded the grant, the parent must agree to allow Coloring Life My Way to use his/her child's name, photo, letter, and/or story on our website and social media.

  • Please note that the grant awarded is a one time paid directly to the vendor or service provider to pay for treatment/services, equipment/supplies, or programs (not covered by insurance companies), etc.

Application process

  • Download  the completed application and supporting documentations.

  • Once completed and submitted, a board member will review the application.

  • If approved, funding will be sent to the vendor or provider (not the family) within three weeks of the award date. Funds must be used within 12 months of the date granted.

Funding criteria

  • The child must be 18 years of age or younger 

  • The child must be under the care of a pediatrician

  • The request must be clinically relevant to the health of the child

  • There must be no existing insurance coverage for the requested expenses

  • One request per child

Expenses covered:

  • Treatment/Services: Therapies such as Applied Behavior Analysis, Play Therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy etc.

  • Equipment/Supplies: Specialty diapers, wheelchairs, assistive technology equipment, care devices, hearing aids, etc.

  • Programs: Tutoring, summer camps, or sporting activities etc.

Expenses not covered:

  • Home modification projects

  • Prescription medication, alternative or experimental drugs, treatment or therapy where there is controversy in the medical community

  • Wheelchair-accessible van purchases

  • Requests for research funding, mass population grants or other not-for-profit organizational grants

  • Requests for debt reduction/past medical bills/household bills

  • Co-pays or deductibles

  • Therapy dog

Financial guidelines

  •  Have an income level less than $75,000 per year for the entire household
